Day Procedure
A range of specialists perform procedures within the hospital’s Day Procedure Unit. Some of the procedures performed include:
Cardiology – pacemaker battery changeover
Ear Nose and Throat - Rhinoplasty
General Surgery/Endoscopy – Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Circumcision, Vasectomy, Carpal Tunnel
Gynaecology - Hysteroscopy, keyhole investigations and treatments
IVF – Fertility procedures
Ophthalmology – Cataract, Ocular Plastics
Oral and Dental Surgery – Teeth removal including Wisdom Teeth removal
Orthopaedics – Arthroscopic procedures,
Plastic and reconstructive surgery – Skin Cancer Surgery, Lesion removal and repairs
Urology – Cystoscopy, Laser treatment of urinary stones, Vasectomy
Vascular Surgery – Varicose Vein Surgery
Prior to your Admission
Ensure the Preadmission Planning form is completed and returned to the hospital prior to your admission. Follow instructions from your Doctor regarding taking your medication prior to your procedure. Advise our reception staff if you require an interpreter. Contact the hospital or your doctor if your condition changes and you have a cold/flu or open skin lesion or cut.
On the day of your surgery
Fast from the advised time and follow any other instructions provided by your doctor’s office. Shower before coming to hospital and do not use deodorant, make-up, perfume or moisturiser. Remove nail polish, jewellery and body piercings (wedding band is acceptable). Arrive at the hospital at your advised admission time and report to hospital Reception.

What to Bring
The following is a list of items that you require for your stay:
Relevant cards – Medicare, DVA, Pensioner, Private Health Insurance, Ambulance membership.
Relevant documents if applicable – Advanced Care Plan or Enduring Power of Attorney.
Payment method for out of pocket expenses.
Clinical reports – X-rays, scans, Doctors letters and reports.
Medications required after your procedure, e.g. insulin.
Physical aids that you use – hearing aids, walking aids, glasses, denture cup and case.
Day Procedure Unit
The Day Procedure Unit consists of 14 beds and chairs with private cubicles in which to recover after your procedure. Free Wi-Fi is available for patients and visitors throughout the Day Procedure Unit. Please ask the nursing staff for a password to access Wi-Fi. After your procedure you will be provided with a light meal and usually stay for a minimum of two hours to recover.
Discharge
Day patients must plan for transport home and for a responsible adult to stay with you for twenty-four hours from the time you leave hospital. In the first twenty-four hours after your procedure do not drive a vehicle, use machinery or tools, make important decisions, drink alcohol or do anything requiring a high level of alertness or coordination. You should seek your doctor’s advice about when you can resume driving.
