New leadership team at MHPH
May 12, 2025

Mildura Health Private Hospital (MHPH) has had a number of exciting new appointments within its executive team, providing a fresh perspective, a wealth of experience and new ideas that will continue to ensure patients are receiving the very best in care.

New Director of Clinical Services Lisa Robertson recently joined the MHPH team following an extensive and varied career which included overseeing nursing staff at various remote hospitals in outback Queensland and more recently as the Executive Director at Robinvale District Health Services.

In her role at MHPH, Ms Robertson will concentrate on enhancing the quality of care, improving patient experience, and expanding community access to the broad range of clinical services provided by the health service.

She is eager to continue fostering a refreshed and positive culture within the clinical services teams.

“I’m responsible for guiding the overall management and strategic direction of clinical operations, including long-term planning, daily leadership, and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care,” Ms Robertson said.

“I’m genuinely excited about the potential and opportunities at MHPH - the clinical teams bring a tremendous depth of knowledge, and I look forward to building on that strong foundation.”

For the past 25 years Associate Professor Fiona Wright has made a name for herself in the medical world, including notably as the Director of the Monash School of Rural Health Mildura and recently as the Deputy Head of School for Monash Rural Health (covering Victoria).

Now, she has added another title to her long list of accolades, joining the private hospital as the Director of Medical Services.

“My role is about ensuring clinical excellence, supporting our medical staff and fostering a culture where patient care always comes first,” AP Wright said.

“A large part of my role will be about improving access to the hospital and outpatient services for our members. I will be looking at recruitment of doctors to help fill service gaps as well as increase choice for our patients.”

“I’ll also be looking more broadly at what gaps there are in health service provision in the wider community, and making suggestions about how MHPH and our outpatient services might be able to assist”.

The most recent appointment has been Louise Williams who has taken on the Director of People and Culture role and has over 25 years’ experience in senior HR roles across production, employment services and labour hire.

Ms Williams said while the private health, employment services, and labour hire sectors were worlds apart, the human aspects of each were one in the same.

“You just have to learn the nuances of an industry, the practices around people are the same,” she said.

“I’ll be managing the work life cycle of a staff member from workforce planning, recruitment and selection, to remuneration benefits, industrial relations, learning and development, and end of employment.

“A key part of the role is managing change and culture. The culture is everything from the conduct people display while at work, their service delivery to patients or clients, to the feel of an organisation which all contributes to how happy somebody is in the workplace.”

With an extensive financial background, Julie Humphrey is the Chief Financial Officer.

After passing the responsibility of human resources management into the capable hands of Ms Williams, she continues to look after the hospital’s finances, IT department and GP and Specialist Clinic.

“One of the reasons I was really attracted to initially coming to work at the private hospital was the sense of the Mildura Health organisation being regionally based and doing things directly for the community,” Ms Humphrey said.

“For example, building the Mildura Health Icon Cancer Centre, developing the registered charity Mildura Health Foundation which is now building the new Dr Julie Zrna Centre, they’re all great initiatives for the community.

“So, although it’s a private hospital, being not for profit ensures we are community focused - it’s about giving back and making sure we have services in the region.”

Overseeing the hospital and staff since his appointment as the Interim Chief Executive last October, Trevor Matheson has well and truly settled into the role and is drawing on his four decades of experience in regional private and public hospitals.

"Mildura Health Private Hospital is a fantastic health service, offering our community convenient access to modern, state-of-the-art facilities,” Mr Matheson said.

"Together with the Mildura Health Icon Cancer Centre and the soon-to-be-completed Dr Julie Zrna Centre, the newly developed operating theatres at MHPH are a further demonstration of the support of the Mildura Health Fund members and its Board’s continued commitment to building and supporting quality, accessible health services for our region.

"The culture among our dedicated staff is exemplary, with patient care firmly at the forefront of everything we do."
